Wow!!! I really enjoyed myself during the 2 days of workshop mentoring DHS students. I've got all girls in my group about 6-8 of them..most of them are in Sec 4 and two of them are in Sec 3. I am not going into details but I will post the important things.
For the 1st day of the workshop...One of the Challenge for me is to get them to work as a team.It's really very hard Cox they are of different level. For the Sec 4 students, they are more Vocalise in the sense that they will give more ideas and opinions but for the Sec 3 students, they are more on the restless side as in cannot sit still and they kept laughing and laughing non-stop.It's really NON-STOP.ha ha. All i can say about the Sec 3 is that their laughter is very contagious...it make me wanna laugh along with them too!! ha ha!! They are the "Happy Fruits" in my group. During the "key punch" activity, which they have to step on numbers within a minute, This was then I can see the team work coming in and i am very happy about it. After the class has ended, we had a Mentor's debrief. Amos asked me How do i feel about my group..I actually used the word "Hostile" to describe it but come to think of it...that is not really the right word to describe..Hmmm...there's no word for it but maybe because they've not known each other well.
2ND day of the workshop... for the closing activity, Mentors were to Wash the students feet which means to serve. So I washed all of my girls feet. After that, during the facilitation time I asked Everyone in my group to share how they felt. The standard Answer they gave me was "They felt really bad and they added that it should be them washing my feet instead of me washing their feet". One of the students said that she was touched. Although the water was cold but she felt the warmth in her heart even as I carry out that act. Another student said she can feel how I feel towards serving others even kneeling down to wash her feet and its like a candle that is inside My heart lighted to her heart so that she can carry on lighting other people's heart. I am so, so TOUCHED after hearing all their Sharing. These 2 days were very fruitful to me. I feel really comfortable being with them. Although sometimes I do not know what to say but they have added so much Joy to me during the 2 days. All I can say is I AM SO PROUD OF YOU GIRLS!!!!
